What is WiFi?
WiFi, or 'Wireless Fidelity' allows you to connect to the Internet without wires, wherever you are.
WiFi enabled computers, telephones and other portable devises to send and receive data anywhere within the range of a base station or 'hotspot' at several times faster than the fastest cable modem connection, enabling large amounts of data to be sent and received quickly.
Today, WiFi enabled devices are enabling users to connect to their office networks, browse the web, download music, games or stream live TV feeds from anywhere around the world. We see virtually limitless applications for WiFi technology. Users are now making voice over WiFi calls through their laptops and sending photos from WiFi enabled cameras. WiFi phones and games machines are now readily available.
We also see a significant shift in WiFi being used to improve operational activities within the real estate. For instance WiFi enables greater flexibility in the deployment of CCTV and other security applications. It also activates PDA applications that use onsite task management software to assist with facilities based activities.
